What the number means

This is the spot price of gold (XAU/USD) — the global benchmark. Your broker's price sits a few units either side because of the spread. Use it to size a trade or check margin.

FAQ

Common questions

Where does the live gold price on this page come from?

The live price is a mid-market reference for XAU/USD drawn from wholesale gold pricing, not from any single broker's order book. It shows the level around which dealers quote. Your broker's bid and ask will sit either side of it, and the gap between them is the cost you pay on entry.

Why is my broker's gold quote different from the live price here?

Your broker's quote differs because it adds its own markup, reflects its liquidity and applies bid/ask spread, while this page shows a single mid reference. During thin or volatile periods the difference widens. Compare the broker's bid and ask to the reference to see the gap, and never assume the reference is a price you can trade at.

Is the live price delayed?

The reference is updated frequently but may lag the fastest feeds by a short interval, and it is not a tick-by-tick exchange tape. Treat it as a guide for context and level-setting, not as an execution price. For order entry, always use the quote inside your trading platform.

Can I trade directly from the live price shown here?

No. This page is informational; it does not connect to an order book or place orders. To trade you need an account with a broker, and execution happens at that broker's prices. Oyo Options is not a broker and does not hold client funds, so any trade you place is between you and your chosen provider.

Why does the gold price jump around during news?

Gold reacts sharply to scheduled data such as US inflation, employment and central bank decisions, because those shift rate expectations. In the seconds around a release, quotes can gap and spreads widen, so fills may differ from what you saw. Avoid market orders during those windows and size positions for the wider range.
